How to compress a video for email or WhatsApp

  1. Choose the video you want to send.
  2. Keep 18 MB for email, or tap 16 MB (WhatsApp), 10 MB (Discord) or type your own limit.
  3. Look at the 3-second preview and the estimated size.
  4. Press Compress video, then attach or share the MP4.

Frequently asked questions

What is the email attachment size limit?

Gmail and Outlook allow about 20–25 MB, but attachments grow by about a third when they are sent. 18 MB is a safe size for both.

What size works for WhatsApp?

Choose 16 MB for videos you send in a chat. For longer videos, WhatsApp also lets you send the file as a document.

My video is too long for the limit. What can I do?

If the target is too small for the video length, you see the smallest sensible size. Trim the video in Zebra Video Editor first, or send it as a link.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your videos, photos and documents never leave it, so it also works with private files.

Does it work on iPhone?

Yes. Open the page in Safari, choose files from Photos or Files, and use “Save to Photos” or Download when they are ready. Keep the screen on while long videos are compressing.
