Why use Zebra Compress
Images recompressed
Photos and scans inside the PDF are downsized and saved as efficient JPEGs; images that would not get smaller are left as they are.
Text stays sharp
Text, fonts and vector drawings are not touched, so the document stays searchable and crisp.
Clean-up
Unused objects left over from earlier edits are removed and the file structure is compressed.
Private documents
Contracts, invoices and IDs never leave your device.
Frequently asked questions
How can I reduce the size of a PDF?
Choose Balanced. Big PDFs are usually big because of scanned pages or photos; those images are downsized to about 150 dpi and recompressed, which often saves 50–90 %.
Why didn’t my PDF get smaller?
PDFs with mostly text and vector graphics are already compact. If there are no large images, there is little to compress, and you get an honest note instead of a worse file.
Can I compress a password-protected PDF?
No. Encrypted PDFs can’t be changed without the password. Remove the protection first in the app that created it.
Is the text still selectable?
Yes. Only images are changed; text, links and bookmarks stay as they were.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser on your own device. Your videos, photos and documents never leave it, so it also works with private files.
Is Zebra Compress free?
Yes. It is completely free, with no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many files you compress.
